Cody Davis and Jeff Novak followed uniquely different paths...
...one shaped by real estate and development, the other by oil, gas, and capital markets, but a shared drive for purposeful leadership and long-term impact brought them together. Their paths crossed unexpectedly at a CEO leadership workshop, a chance meeting that sparked a friendship and eventually led to the creation of Novak Capital.
Cody Davis was raised in the oil- and gas-rich region around Elk City, Oklahoma. A third-generation oilman, Davis grew up with the industry in his blood. Some of his earliest memories involve visiting well sites across Oklahoma alongside his grandfathers, learning the ropes of exploration, production, and perseverance in one of America’s toughest businesses. This deep-rooted connection to energy inspired Davis to pursue his own career in oil and gas. Over the past decade, he has built three successful exploration companies responsible for drilling, completing, and producing oil and natural gas wells across multiple states—earning a reputation as a bold, forward-thinking oil and gas executive.
On the other side of the business spectrum is Jeff Novak, a former NFL lineman whose second career has been as dynamic as his first. After retiring from professional football, Novak turned his focus to real estate, launching a marketing and sales agency before founding Novak in 2008. With a keen eye for opportunity and an exceptional ability to raise capital, Novak has spent the past 15 years developing over $400 million in real estate projects, specializing in mixed-use lifestyle communities that seamlessly blend urban living with hospitality, retail, office, and luxury rental properties.
When Davis and Novak met unexpectedly at a CEO leadership workshop...
they quickly discovered their shared values: bold vision, unwavering ethics, and a desire to create lasting impact across industries. What began as mutual respect between two accomplished entrepreneurs soon turned into brainstorming sessions and a blueprint for a new venture that would leverage their combined expertise in energy, real estate, and capital markets.
That collaboration gave birth to Rivery Capital, a platform designed to unify and expand their diverse business interests. In March of 2025, Davis and Novak took a major step forward by bringing all their affiliate companies under one roof at their new headquarters in Plano, Texas—a move that reflects their long-term vision of integrated growth and operational synergy.
